Shane “Sully” Sullivan’s journey into the auction world began in 2018 as a weekend hobby, collecting and reselling discarded or free items. What started as casual “picking” quickly turned into a passion for turning trash into treasure, ultimately paving the way for Sully’s Online Auction Success.

When Sully started reselling items, live auctions quickly caught his eye. He attended them frequently, always on the lookout for great deals to flip. By 2019, a chance meeting with an auction house owner led to a partnership, and together, they held auctions several times a month. However, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 posed a challenge as live auctions dwindled. Sully and his partner pivoted to HiBid’s online auction platform, which opened the door to a larger, more diverse audience and higher profit margins. In 2022, Sully took over the business entirely, hosting nearly 80 successful auctions since then, cementing Sully’s Online Auction Success.

Sully attributes much of his success to careful preparation and attention to detail. Each auction involves thorough staging, clear item descriptions, and high-quality photos. Marketing also plays a significant role, and Sully invests in targeted advertising to reach a broad audience. Although live auctions are on hold for now, Sully is open to incorporating them again in the future, expanding Sully’s Online Auction Success even further.

Sully’s love for picking and auctioneering is evident in everything he does. Whether he’s finding items through estate sales, storage units, or online platforms, his passion for turning hidden gems into valuable items is what drives him. Even outside of work, Sully enjoys thrifting with his girlfriend, traveling, and riding motorcycles, all while balancing a second career in sales and remodeling his dream property.
